By: Philip Saucier, Mary Costigan and Zachary Brandwein

What You Should Know

On Wednesday, November 4, 2020, Governor Janet Mills issued an executive order requiring face coverings to be worn in public regardless of the ability to physically distance and reducing the indoor gathering limit to 50 persons. In particular, the order requires that face coverings be worn in all portions of municipal, county, and state buildings “typically accessible” to the public. The order specifically cites a nonexclusive list including parking lots, walkways, lobbies, waiting areas, elevators, service desks, and related hallways. Finally, the order notes that the face-covering requirement applies to privately-owned facilities leased for government use.

The complete order can be viewed here.
