Bernstein Shur Named 2023 Best Places to Work in Maine
Recently Bernstein Shur achieved a 2023 Best Places to Work in Maine ranking, securing the 12th year of recognition by Best Places.

This statewide survey and awards program identifies, recognizes, and honors the best places of employment in Maine, benefiting the state’s economy, its workforce, and businesses. The 2023 Best Places to Work in Maine list is made up of 134 companies in three size categories: small (15-49 U.S. employees), medium (50-249 U.S. employees) and large (250+ U.S. employees). To be considered, companies must fulfill the following eligibility requirements:
- Have at least 15 full-time or part-time employees working in Maine;
- Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business or government entity;
- Be a publicly or privately held business;
- Have a facility in the state of Maine;
- Be in business a minimum of one year.
Companies from across the state entered the two-part process to determine the Best Places to Work in Maine rankings. The first consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics, worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience, which consisted of 75% of the total. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings.
Launched in 2006, the awards program is a project of the Maine State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management, the Best Companies Group, and BridgeTower Media. The Best Companies Group manages the overall registration and survey process, analyzes the data, and determines the final rankings.
A celebration on October 11th will honor Bernstein Shur and the other winners and reveal the rankings for the first time. The October 30th issue of Mainebiz will list all recognized companies.
