Evi Englert Woodlinn Joins Maine Law Panel on Family Law Issues Affecting the LGBTQ+ Community

On Wednesday, October 9, the University of Maine School of Law’s LGBTQ+ Law and Policy Group will be hosting an Issues in Family Law panel and networking event at The Maine Center at 300 Fore St., in Portland, from 5 to 7pm. Shareholder Eviana Englert Woodlinn, head of Bernstein Shur’s Family Formation Practice Group, will join Maine Law professor Jessica Feinberg and Gia Drew, Executive Director of Equality Maine, discuss evolving legal issues in the area of family law that impact the LGBTQ+ community. Topics of conversation will include legal reforms of custody determinations for parents of LGBTQ+ youth, family formation, and the recently passed Maine bill LD 227, An Act Regarding Legally Protected Health Care Activity in the State, which outlines specific protections for individuals and entities involved in legally protected health care services, including reproductive health and gender-affirming care.

Evi launched their Family Formation practice in 2023 to help individuals and couples navigate the legal process of building a family, including through assisted reproductive technology, adoption, or surrogacy.
