Karen S. Aframe and Joshua T. Silver Elected Bernstein Shur Shareholders

Portland and Augusta, ME and Manchester, NH (January 8, 2013) – Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced the election of Karen S. Aframe and Joshua T. Silver as shareholders.

 Aframe is a member of Bernstein Shur’s Labor and Employment Practice Group and is based in the firm’s Manchester, New Hampshire office. She represents the interests of management in all aspects of labor and employment law, including compliance with state and federal wage and hour laws and non-discrimination laws. Aframe assists employers with the development of personnel policies and compliance with the Family Medical Leave Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Affordable Care Act. She is chair of the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section.

A resident of Hopkinton, New Hampshire, Aframe received her BA from Stanford University and her JD from Northeastern School of Law. Prior to attending law school, she worked at the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, and was awarded the Civil Rights Division Special Achievement Award.

Joshua T. Silver is a member of Bernstein Shur’s Business Law Practice Group and Data Security Team and is based in the firm’s Portland, ME office. His practice focuses on software and technology development agreements, technology licensing transactions, intellectual property matters, data security, e-commerce matters and consulting and services arrangements. He helped launch the firm’s Data Security Team and is a frequent speaker on data security issues.

A resident of Cumberland, ME, Silver received his BA from Middlebury College and his JD from the University of Maine School of Law, magna cum laude, where he was the business editor of the ME Law Review. Prior to joining Bernstein Shur, he served as a law clerk for the Hon. John A. Woodcock, Jr., U.S. District Court for the District of ME.
