Law Firm Makes Strong Impression at AWEA

Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, was a sponsor of the American Wind Energy Association Regional Summit Northeast in South Portland, ME on March 25 and 26. More than 400 wind industry experts attended educational sessions and workshops.

AWEA is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising public awareness of wind as a clean, domestic energy source through communication, research and education. Attendees of the AWEA summit include attorneys, wind engineers, developers of transmission lines, generators and community members.

More than 20 members of the firm’s Wind Energy Team attended the conference. The team is an industry sector group within the firm’s Energy Law Practice Group. They represent non-utility generation, merchant transmission and competitive energy providers throughout New England and around the world.

Highlights from the summit include: The firm’s CEO, Pat Scully, participated in a panel discussion titled “Transmission: Methods for Working with the Existing Grid and Improved Interconnection and Acceptance.” Attorney Jamie Broder, along with colleagues Chris Aslin and N. Joel Moser, distributed an excerpt of a chapter they co-authored titled “The Millennial Revolution in Electrical Transmission” for the “Inside the Minds” series by Thomson Reuters. The firm also sponsored a networking event for attendees to kick-off the opening night at Marriott Sable Oaks.
