Bernstein Shur Shareholder Emily Gray Rice Confirmed to serve as U.S. Attorney for New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, NH, and PORTLAND and AUGUSTA, ME (December 16, 2015) – Bernstein Shur shareholder Emily Gray Rice was confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as U.S. Attorney for the District of New Hampshire. Rice was nominated by President Barack Obama and is one of six attorneys across six states nominated in October.

“Through their dedication and accomplishments, these fine attorneys have distinguished themselves as some of the best and brightest their profession has to offer,” President Obama said in a White House press release at the time of nomination. “I am honored to nominate them as United States Attorneys and know that they will faithfully and tirelessly pursue justice on behalf of the American people.”

A seasoned and effective appellate and trial lawyer with more than 30 years of civil litigation and legal experience across industry sectors, Rice joined Bernstein Shur as a shareholder in 2012. She was previously a shareholder in the law firm of Orr & Reno, P.A. and prior to that worked at the law firm of Dean, Rice & Kane, P.A. Rice also served in the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office, both as Senior Assistant Attorney General and as Chief of the Bureau of Civil Law.

Rice earned her J.D. from the Northeastern University School of Law and received both her M.A. and B.A. cum laude from Boston University.
