Bernstein Shur Announces New Shareholder
Portland, ME (January 17, 2012) — Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced today that it elected Katherine (Kat) Joyce shareholder of the firm.
Joyce is a member of Bernstein Shur’s Energy and Environmental Practice Group. Her area of expertise is in environmental permitting and compliance, particularly as it pertains to power generation facilities, large-scale commercial development, real estate remediation, solid waste, water, and air pollution issues, including regulation of greenhouse gas emissions. Joyce also serves in the firm’s Wind Energy Group and is a member of the Green Team, which provides clients with the full range of legal services necessary to accomplish small and large-scale green development projects.
Joyce is a member of the American Bar Association, the Cumberland County Bar Association, and the ME State Bar Association, where she chairs the Natural Resources and Environmental Law Section. She also serves as president of the board of directors of Camp Ketcha. Joyce received her JD at the University of Maine School of Law and resides in Scarborough.
