Bernstein Shur Director of Human Resources Named ME HR Leader of the Year

Mary Beth S. Turcotte Honored for Work on Diversity Hiring Coalition

Portland and Augusta, ME and Manchester, NH (June 6, 2013) –  Mary Beth S. Turcotte, Bernstein Shur’s director of human resources, was honored with the 2013 ME HR Leader of the Year award by SHRM ME State Council at the annual ME HR Convention in Rockland, ME.

SHRM ME State Council supports human resources professionals throughout the state and provides resources to advance the profession. Each year the ME chapter honors a member who exemplifies excellence in the field and has a proven record of providing service to the ME HR community. Turcotte was chosen for her dedication to the field of human resources and her work as co-chair of the Diversity Hiring Coalition.

Turcotte has been with Bernstein Shur for 11 years, earning her Professional in Human Resources certification in 2008. Under her direction, the firm has built a high-quality staff and has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in ME for the past three years. She is chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee and has successfully launched multiple employee satisfaction and wellness programs.

In addition to her role in the firm, Turcotte is an active volunteer in the community, helping Windham Correctional Facility inmates develop interview skills, providing ski lessons for the ME Adaptive Sports Skiing Program and serving as co-chair of ME’s Diversity Hiring Coalition.
