Bernstein Shur Tops List of ME’s Largest Law Firms

Nov. 15, 2021 — Bernstein Shur is proud to once again be in the top spot of a new ranking of ME’s largest law firms. The top 10 list was published in this week’s special “Focus on Law” edition of MEbiz.

The firms were ranked by total ME attorneys as of October 2021 when Bernstein Shur reported 105 total ME attorneys and 199 total ME employees in the firm’s two offices located in Portland and Augusta. Bernstein Shur also has an office in Manchester, New Hampshire, with 16 attorneys, but those attorneys are not counted as part of this state-specific ranking.

The November 15, 2021, issue of MEbiz also reported on the launch of Bernstein Shur’s new Media and Marketing practice, led by shareholder Kevan Lee Deckelmann. The group of four attorneys is already delivering nationwide counsel in the quickly evolving and heavily regulated digital advertising and marketing space.

“It used to be that someone came up with an idea and an ad agency made a television commercial. Now, you can have an idea with a YouTube video in a day. Things move very quickly,” Deckelmann said.

Associate James Monteleone was quoted in the publication’s “Trial by Zoom” article, where he discussed both the benefits and challenges of virtual litigation and remote justice, including ongoing hitches with electronic filing.

“We’re struggling to figure that out, and more advanced systems are going to take time,” Monteleone said.
