Mary Costigan Elected to Board President of Portland Community Chamber of Commerce

This fall, Bernstein Shur shareholder Mary Costigan kicks off a two-year commitment as Board President of the Portland Community Chamber of Commerce, a subset of the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce. Mary has served on the board for seven years.

“We are thrilled to see Mary taking on the role of President of the Portland Community Chamber of Commerce Board,” said Quincy Hentzel, President and CEO of the Portland Regional Chamber. “Mary’s professional experience working with municipalities and businesses lies at the core of our mission as a Chamber. Her demonstrated track record of leadership will be an unquestionable asset as we continue to advocate for Portland’s business community over her two-year term.”

As an experienced municipal and environmental attorney, Mary worked in the public sector for the City of Portland for years before joining Bernstein Shur. Today, her clients rely on her legal guidance when navigating land use permitting, zoning compliance, representing before local and state boards, and more.

“As a dynamic hub for business and economic opportunity, with a uniquely rich history, the City of Portland and its community deserve the advocacy, education, and connection to keep it vibrant,” said Mary. “This is what the Portland Community Chamber is all about, and I am honored to take on a leadership role and partner alongside visionaries like Quincy Hentzel to support a community that is meaningful to me, professionally and personally.”

As part of her commitment, Mary will take on the moderator role for the Portland Community Chamber’s 2023 and 2024 seasons of Eggs &  Issues—a monthly business forum highlighting timely economic discussion in the Portland region. The next event is Thursday, October 11, 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM.
