Ned Sackman Chairs Record-Breaking Fundraiser Supporting Legal Aid in New Hampshire

On May 3, the annual New Hampshire Campaign for Legal Services (the Campaign) held a record-breaking breakfast event, raising more than $135,000 to support 603 Legal Aid and New Hampshire Legal Assistance, New Hampshire’s civil legal aid organizations.

Bernstein Shur Shareholder Ned Sackman chaired the event. Megan Hilson of Brady Sullivan Properties, who chairs the Campaign Leadership Council, and Campaign Director, Sarah Palermo, were also integral to the breakfast.  The Campaign holds the event annually to raise awareness and critical dollars to support access to justice in civil, non-criminal cases.

“Ned brought enthusiasm, attention to detail, and an unwavering commitment to shining a spotlight on the frontline staff who serve our clients every day,” said Sarah. “He consistently sought to bring new supporters to our cause. He has been instrumental in promoting our message that providing access to justice for civil legal issues that threaten people’s basic needs, and ensuring that the justice system works for everyone regardless of means, benefits our entire society.”

In his second year chairing the event, Ned brought his personal experience as a litigator and passion for the NHCLS’ mission to his volunteer efforts. He explains: “The work of the Campaign helps people solve problems they can’t solve on their own so they can go back to being the best versions of themselves.”

The annual Campaign Kickoff Breakfast supports New Hampshire’s two largest civil legal aid organizations: 603 Legal Aid is the first stop for someone seeking legal aid, maintaining an online application, self-help library and call center for advice and referrals on matters involving housing, domestic violence, and access to benefits. NH Legal Assistance is a full service statewide nonprofit law firm providing direct assistance to clients in need. In 2023, the programs provided services that affected more than 7,440 people, and provided high-quality referrals to another 5,500.
