Attorney Anthony Perkins Recognized for Outstanding Entrepreneurial Mentorship

ME Center for Entrepreneurial Development honors Perkins, a longtime volunteer mentor in the MCED Top Gun program, with its 2016 Compass Award

PORTLAND and AUGUSTA, ME and MANCHESTER, N.H. (June 8, 2016) – Bernstein Shur, one of northern New England’s largest law firms, announced that shareholder Anthony E. Perkins was awarded the ME Center for Entrepreneurial Development (MCED) Compass Award for his many years of outstanding mentorship through the Top Gun business acceleration and development program.

Designed to help entrepreneurs accelerate their growth, Top Gun is a five-month competitive program run by the ME Center for Entrepreneurial Development. Program participants are matched with volunteer mentors who provide guidance on product innovation, business model development, sales and marketing and other key processes required for growth. The program culminates in a final pitch-off for the prize of $10,000 cash or $120,000-worth of in-kind services. To-date, more than 140 companies have graduated from the MCED Top Gun program.

Perkins, whose career with Bernstein Shur spans three decades, serves as co-chair of the firm’s Business Law and Technology, Outsourcing & Data Security Practice Groups. He is also manager of TechVentures Group, a business advisory group within Bernstein Shur, helping companies to achieve sustainable growth objectives through equity and debt financing, strategic alliances, product development and commercialization, and business deal negotiations. Perkins has served on the board of the ME Center for Entrepreneurial Development for three years. He received his JD from the University of Maine School of Law in 1985 and his BA from Colby College in 1982.
