Here’s why you’ll enjoy working with her.

When order gives way to chaos, when the odds seem long, and when the results matter most, Lisa is the calm, deliberate and strategic leader you want on your side.

With a deep background in political work, Lisa’s evolution to lawyer means that she brings a unique and practical perspective to election law, shaping laws and policy, navigating all levels of government, and building strong organizations and coalitions.

Lisa dedicated 20 years as a political advisor, working both to impact the government and contribute from within. She advised state and national leaders from Maine to Arizona, developed successful coalitions, managed campaigns across the country, and used her organizational acumen to win elections and advance public policy. Lisa is a smooth steward of complex relationships—a valuable skill that comes naturally to Lisa and that has been critical to her success.

Between 2006 and 2018, Lisa led numerous winning campaign teams, guiding candidates, independent expenditures, and coalition campaigns. She has successfully advanced voting rights, including advocating for campaign finance reform; architecting the movement for Automatic Voter Registration in Maine; and leading a nationwide effort to pivot electoral strategies and adapt to new modes of voting during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Lisa is passionate about the process and structure of government and the touchpoints where government affects your interests: she believes properly shaping and navigating local, state, or federal laws is often where solutions are found, and problems are solved. When she takes on a cause, she takes it on to win. Driven, efficient, and relentless, if you give Lisa a challenge, you can trust she’ll take care of it.

But that’s not all. Lisa’s professional interests also include:

  • Property Tax and Valuation
  • Nonprofit and Tax-Exempt Formation and Governance

A career built on winning.

Before joining Bernstein Shur as an associate, Lisa spent 20 years as a successful advocate, strategist, and political advisor.  Most recently, Lisa was:

  • Legal Extern at the Federal Election Commission as well as a Student Attorney the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, and an Intern at Pine Tree Legal
  • Editor in Chief of the Maine Law Review
  • A self-employed political consultant advising state and national campaigns, coalitions, and major donors.
  • Chief of Staff to Congresswoman Chellie Pingree

When Lisa isn’t working, she is

Doing the things she loves most: organizing around the joy of food, whether cooking at home or finding new restaurants, and spending time on the many glorious trails of Maine, always with her dog, walking, hiking, or cross-country skiing.
