POSITION OVERVIEW

The Energy and Environmental / Municipal Paralegal is responsible for assisting with billable practice group matters as well as other areas as needed. The position requires a resourceful and highly technically proficient professional to manage energy, environmental and municipal projects effectively and efficiently. This position requires a proactive professional with exceptional organizational skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, able to exercise the utmost discretion, and a positive, can-do attitude.  The paralegal supports and facilitates the needs of a busy team of professionals.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Research and respond to TIFs, municipal bond deadlines and financial reporting for the practice group
  • Extensive electronic filing capability, knowledge of the federal and state court filing procedures and policies, and CaseLines
  • Prepare and file TIFs, bonds and supporting documentation
  • Business acumen regarding financial contracts, billing, and client case expectations
  • Prepare and review exhibits for presentations, client meetings and practice group meetings
  • Assemble, review, and analyze documents, creating Excel spreadsheets for project management
  • Prepare and organize materials for clients, mediations and other meetings including binders
  • Draft documents, contracts, notices, and related documents
  • Assist with the gathering of information and preparation/review of calendar materials
  • Calculate, calendar and track deadlines
  • Manage information obtained during discovery; maintain and organize files in Document Management System (DMS)
  • Prepare Excel charts, spreadsheets, timelines, and other summaries of various types of information, including financial models and projections
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, clerk’s office personnel and others
  • Conduct basic research (legal and non-legal) and prepare clear, concise memoranda
  • Provide administrative support for attorneys as necessary and other duties as assigned 

 

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification with a minimum of two + years of litigation paralegal experience
  • Exceptionally strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to effectively communicate with internal colleagues and external parties
  • Comfortable with financial modeling in Excel
  • Ability to pay acute attention to detail and proofread are musts
  • Great collaborator, enthusiastic, proactive, and self-directed
  • Outstanding organizational skills and excellent judgment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Technologically savvy; highly proficient, expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite 365
  • Must be flexible with schedule and time requirements to meet deadlines and needs of the Practice Group
  • Transaction legal experience a plus
